Willie Valentin – The Artist. The Producer. The Songwriter. The Remixer. The Music Engineer.

For nearly four decades, Willie Valentin has remained one of the most influential and enduring forces in the Freestyle music movement. With a career spanning 39 years, he has produced over 800 Freestyle songs and remixed hundreds more for artists and record labels across the globe—solidifying his legacy as both a creative visionary and a technical powerhouse.

Willie’s journey began in 1987 when he auditioned as a singer for the male Freestyle group All-In. Though new to singing, his undeniable energy and enthusiasm earned him a management contract. From 1987 to 1990, he performed as part of All-In throughout the tri-state area, where one of the group’s dancers—who would later become internationally known Freestyle recording artist Nyasia—was among his earliest collaborators and friends.

In 1990, Willie launched his solo career under the name Valentin before rebranding as Willie Valentin. Even in the late ’80s, he had already established himself as a respected producer, creating demos for artists signed to Mic-Mac Records, including Nyasia, George Anthony, and Clear Touch. Though early attempts to secure his own deal proved challenging, his persistence paid off.

In 1992, Willie signed a recording and management contract with Onna Roll Records, home to multiple hit records by acts such as The Nas-T Boys and Donna Williams. He released his debut single, “One True Love Affair,” which gained FM radio airplay across Miami, Chicago, Texas, Massachusetts, Canada, New Jersey, and Philadelphia—marking a significant breakthrough in his recording career.

In 1994, Willie officially signed with Mic-Mac Records and released “I’ll Never Leave You.” That same year, he envisioned launching his own label—Artistik Records (now Artistik Recordings)—with distribution through Mic-Mac. By 1995, that vision became reality with the release of Freestyle Parade Volume 1. Its success led to subsequent installments, Freestyle Parade 2 and Freestyle Parade 3, establishing the series as a cornerstone of ’90s Freestyle culture.

In 1997, Artistik began independent distribution and continues to operate successfully in 2026, celebrating 30 years in music. Over the decades, the label has developed new talent while also releasing music from legendary Freestyle artists including TKA, Tony Moran of the Latin Rascals, Sammy Exo, Aby Cruz, and Nyasia.

As a producer and remixer, Willie Valentin’s reach extends beyond Freestyle’s core audience. He has worked with genre icons and mainstream artists including Cynthia, Denine, George Lamond, Coro, Soave, Usher, and Christina Aguilera—demonstrating his versatility across Freestyle, dance, pop, and R&B.

In addition to producing more than 800 Freestyle records, Willie has released two full-length albums and numerous singles of his own, continually evolving as an artist while staying true to the roots of the genre he helped shape.

Now celebrating 30 years of Artistik Recordings, Willie is preparing a new 12-song compilation album featuring fresh material, including collaborations with his wife, Synthia Figueroa, and his daughter, Lily Rose—highlighting music as both a legacy and a family tradition.

Actively creating and collaborating, Willie is currently working alongside legendary producers such as Tony Moran, Lewis Martinee, and Jay Alams. His latest single, “Let It Go,” a collaboration with Tony Moran, is set for release on February 20, 2026. Additional 2026 releases include a duet with Synthia Figueroa, a collaboration with George Anthony, and a new solo record.

Nearly four decades in, Willie Valentin continues to define, elevate, and expand the Freestyle sound—proving that passion, innovation, and dedication never go out of style.
